| This book presents a harmonic method I have been using in my compositions, arrangements and performances or over 20 years. It has served me well, and I hope you find this unique perspective equally useful in your musical creations. One of the simplest ways to create sophisticated harmonies is to think of notes in groups rather than as individual pitches. This method focuses on modules (groups of notes) with uniform intervallic relationships and how they are used to build more complex harmonies. They are invaluable because their consistent sound and shapes are easy to distinguish and intuitive to play on instruments. A fundamental understanding of music theory is required to benefit from this material. Though the music is printed in black and white, an audio CD of the examples is included to illustrate just how colorful these sounds really are! Aloha, Daniel Ho |
